Meghan and Nick’s wedding at Breathless Punta Cana Resort & Spa is a perfect example of how a destination wedding photoshoot should unfold. Chill happy vibes front the start of the day all the way until the day. Everything went according to plan and the many details they planned out really showed through the lens. Transitions were seamless and the weather was absolutely perfect. The deep blue sky was a fantastic backdrop for their beach photo shoot. Overall it was a beautiful experience, and we hope it inspires you for your own destination wedding.

Getting Ready

As always the day began with preparations. A team of professional makeup and hair artists worked on Meghan’s look. During this time we were able to get some closeup shots of the scene. The wedding dress is ready to be worn for the first time, hanging on a small tree. We also got some shots of their contrasting black and gold wedding rings, and the custom bride and maid of honor slippers.

Meghan spent the morning surrounded by her closest friends and family. They all got to wear matching robes. Laughter filled the atmosphere as they got ready for the big moment.

Meanwhile, Nick’s group celebrated in a separate room. They all toasted to beers to get in the mood for the ceremony. We also got a shot of Nick looking out the window taking a moment for himself.

The First Look & Pre-Ceremony Moments

After making some final tweaks to her makeup in the mirror, Meghan set out to debut her wedding dress. The brides and bridesmaids now had their bouquets and they were ready to go. The first to see Meghan was her father and his reaction says it all.

The Ceremony

The ceremony took place at Breathless Punta Cana’s beautiful main ceremony pavilion. It’s a venue designed to do most of the visual work for you. The fountains on both sides of the aisle add sound ambience, which helps fill the space without needing music during early guest arrival. Though it was harsh mid-day, the shaded seating area for the guests kept everyone comfortable. Despite the heat, the harsh light made all the white themes of the wedding really pop.

Now that the guests were seated, the anticipation began to really set in. When the bride arrived all eyes sat on her and her father. The groomsmen and bridesmaids were in position, and the ceremony could begin.

After the initial greeting the couple exchanged vows, held hands and were pronounced married. Applause followed.

Portraits & Beach Session

After the ceremony, the family transitioned into the beach for a photo shoot.

Because the sky was so clear that day, the sky had a deep blue tone that contrasted nicely with the white and pastel theme of the wedding. The gentle waves of the Uvero Alto beach also made a dramatic splash in the background.

They even got some pictures with the local green iguana!

Reception Details

After the beach photos were done, the party transitioned to Dreams Onyx Resort Punta Cana, the neighbouring family friendly resort. The two resorts are interconnected and share some of the facilities. Their wedding reception took place by the Carnival International Buffet, with access to roof covered tables, a grassy field, and a giant LED dance floor.

They had a custom sign made welcoming the guests, personalized seating arrangements and a magic mirror photobooth. The magic mirror has a touch screen that prompts you to snap a photo while you see yourself in the mirror. It’s a very popular option for weddings in Punta Cana and you can request it as an additional service for our wedding photoshoots package.

The prop station also allowed guests to take all kinds of different photos.

Unfortunately Meghan and Nick weren’t able to bring their furry friend along for their wedding, but it did make it in spirit through these cardboard cutouts.

Settling in

Once all the guests settled in, people began to dance straight away, including Meghan and Nick. The spark machine added a nice effect to their dance and separated it from the rest.

The first dance set the tone for the evening. It was emotional and heartwarming, and the mother and father’s dance carried that same feeling.

After some group photos with all the guests, the real party was about to start.

Reception Celebration

This wedding party really put that dancefloor to use. Dancing was high energy and full of excitement.

It was definitely a night to remember, and we loved being a part of it!
