Most brides look forward to their wedding days with excitement and hope. Sadly, many end up regretting the way they end up distributing their budgets.
Recently, New York Magazine published the results of a fascinating survey which asked a large number of brides to reveal their greatest wedding day disappointments. To reach their findings, researchers asked each respondent to rank their greatest planning mistakes, registry snafus and budgeting errors. Ultimately, the survey yielded interesting results that should prove useful to anyone who’s planning a wedding.
Spending Too Much
It’s quite common for couples to overspend on their weddings; however, most are more disappointed with how they distribute their budgets. According to New York Magazine’s survey, the vast majority of brides felt they overspent on flowers, while a smaller number said they overspent on drinks, decorations, makeup and dresses.
Spending Too Little
While several brides expressed regret over spending too much on specific items, others felt they spent too little. About 10 percent of brides said they underspent on their dresses, while about 9 percent said they didn’t spend enough on their wedding cakes. In the end, however, the largest regrets revolved around inadequate or inept photography, with nearly a quarter of all brides saying they should have spent more money on a quality photographer.
Why it’s So Important
It’s not surprising to learn that most bridal regrets center on poor wedding photography. It’s quite common for couples to exhaust their budgets on caterers, bakers, florists, venue managers and limousines. Unfortunately, without a quality, experienced photographer to capture the true essence of a ceremony, couples aren’t able to relive their special days years down the road.
Your wedding day should be a beautiful, memorable event. That said, without a reputable, talented Dominican Republic wedding photographer to capture every critical moment, it’s apt to fade from memory rather quickly.
